HOW TO PLAY

BOBBY JONES GOLF COURSE

We have two nine hole courses named Magnolia and Azalea that are played in
opposite directions – but not at the same time – resulting in 18 distinct holes.

THE TWO WAYS TO PLAY BOBBY JONES GOLF COURSE

1. THE TRADITIONAL GOLF EXPERIENCE

Depending on when you play, you will be playing either the Magnolia or Azalea course. Each plays in opposite
directions and are two different golf courses and experiences. You can play 9 holes or 18 holes, or depending on
availability of tee times, 27 holes, 36 holes, etc. And, because of the Longleaf tee system and the large double
greens with two pin placements, you can play from a different tee to a different flag the second time around.

2. THE NOT SO TRADITIONAL REVOLUTIONARY GOLF EXPERIENCE
On certain days, we will be playing 18 continuous holes enjoying both the Magnolia and Azalea courses.
When you play Magnolia and Azalea in the same round, you’ll be part of a shotgun start with golfers starting at the
same time on all nine of the holes of the Magnolia course. Then, when every group has completed their ninth hole
and at the same time, everyone begins their 10th hole of play on the Azalea course, going the opposite direction
and enjoying a completely different nine holes coming home.
That’s 18 distinct holes of golf, traditional, but not traditional!

THE LONGLEAF TEE SYSTEM

Bobby Jones utilizes the Longleaf tee system. On our course, you will see eight numbered starting points
on each hole. There are no mens, ladies, seniors, or junior tees at Bobby Jones. There are just tees.
Most courses are simply too hard and unwelcoming for those who aren’t the more highly skilled players.
The holes are too long, the pressure to play at a proper pace is too great, and the emphasis on scoring lower
can be too formidable. Without creating multiple types of golf courses specifically designed for every kind of player,
a golf course is less inviting to all golfers. But what if there was a way to recreate that same expectation for every
type of player? A way for each golfer to share the same golf experience, play at comparable speeds and feel
welcome and appreciated? Well, there is.

The Longleaf Tee System is a joint initiative of the American Society of Golf Course Architects and the
U.S. Kids Golf Foundation. Their mission is to create golf experiences that will enable more players to
enjoy playing golf while keeping the design, integrity and challenge of the layout intact.
That is what we have done at Bobby Jones. Chose the number tee that suits your game, not someone else’s.
In fact, we have a way to calibrate your game to the correct Longleaf tee number. Just visit with our staff on
the driving range to do this.

And oh, by the way, you can tee off on different levels on different holes. You don’t have to stick to the same
level for your whole round. So, design the course you want to play, even as you play it. If a par 4 seems too long
from a tee you’re planning to play from, move up a level or two. No one will care, and you’ll have more fun.
An audible is not just for football.

THERE ARE NO TEE MARKERS AT BOBBY JONES

Unless it’s a tournament day and we need precise yardages, you won’t find any tee markers at Bobby Jones.
That may be hard to grasp, but it is part of our revolutionary way of playing golf.
Once you have selected the Longleaf tee level you want to play, you find that level number on the hole you are
playing and then tee off anywhere closest to that point as you like. It’s up to you. On some holes the teeing area
is obvious, on others it is not so well defined. But, that’s the idea. Find a nice spot of grass near your tee level
and have at it!

It’s the way the first golfers played hundreds of years ago.
It’s the way we play now too.
